The Santiam Golf Club is excited to announce its’ new business relationship with Taste of Hawaii, a family owned and operated restaurant headed by Chef Norm Williams and his wife Francine. Replacing the Santiam Grill at the golf club, Taste of Hawaii opened for business January 3rd, 2020. The restaurant features foods from Hawaii, American fare and daily specials with a Hawaiian twist.
Francine will head the restaurant operation as Restaurant Manager while Chef Williams will be in the kitchen creating the menu and his delicious cuisine. Joining Norm in the kitchen will be his sons Brooks, Kalei and Norm the third (aka Boogie) as well as his daughter in law Jennifer.
Chef Williams’ culinary experience includes cooking positions at the Intercontinental Hotel in Maui, Valley Island Resort, Pino’s Italian Restaurant, Marion Forks Restaurant, Trexler Farm and Catering, Santiam Canyon School District and the Santiam Grill. Norm also has been the Sous Chef for Illahe Hills Country Club, Executive Sous Chef at the Hotel Hana, Corporate Chef for Aston Hotels and Resorts, Banquet Chef for the Westin Hotel of Maui as well as Executive Chef for Kaanapali Shores Resort, Old Lahaina Luau and Aloha Mixed Plate. In addition to his many prestigious positions for resorts and hotels, Chef Williams has owned and operated three restaurants of his own. His first was Norm’s Café in Hawaii, then Fran’s Island Grill in Maui and finally the Maui Grill initially opened in Stayton and then moved to Salem.
Norms’ awards and achievements include graduating with his food service degree with a 4.0, Governor Waihee of Hawaii Achievement Award and winner of the International Pasta Festival sponsored by Robert Lyn Nelson.
